her MA and MFA degrees in Art and Design and a Doctoral degree in Art Education from the University of Iowa. From 2001 to 2004, she served as an assistant professor of Art at Angelo State University in Texas. Currently, she is a professor and director at the Institute of Applied Arts and leads the Interrogative transArt Lab. Additionally, she is a researcher at the International Institute for Cultural Studies at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. As an artist, Lai focuses on ontological inquiries. She received a Fulbright Grant for Art in 2008 and was a visiting scholar at UC Berkeley in the USA in 2016. It engages with public spaces through artistic actions, using people and objects as dynamic metaphors. The goal is not to solve problems but to uncover the reasons and issues behind observed phenomena through interrogation. The practice of interrogative design can be seen as both a method of artistic or social engagement and a critical approach. By creating intermediaries, the experiences of the invisible or voiceless can be acknowledged, prompting further discussion and
